SCROLL TO DISCOVER

The world sees a breakthrough.
She sees a missing line.

On April 27, 2032, a biologist at CERN announces 120 protocols discovered by PROMETHEUS. One of them, CRX-27, promises to turn back biological aging. Former ICC investigator Eura Raaniken sees something else: eleven human subjects, and a gap in the record.

The trail leads back to The Hague, where eleven people were given a drug without their knowledge. As governments and markets fight over the future, their bodies carry the evidence someone wants buried.

Aris Vlachos

Molecular biologist

At seventy-one, Greek molecular biologist Aris Vlachos steps onto a CERN stage with a discovery that could transform human aging. He believes knowledge this powerful must belong to everyone. Yet one line on page forty of his paper forces him to confront a harder question: can revealing the truth also endanger the people it should protect?

02 / APRIL27

Léa Fournier

Scientist · Lyon

Thirty-four-year-old Léa Fournier is Aris’s closest scientific collaborator, a brilliant researcher from Lyon who understands the human cost hidden inside the data. She wrote the line on page forty and is determined to trace the people behind it. Her loyalty to her mentor is matched by a refusal to let scientific certainty silence her conscience.

03 / APRIL27

Rahul Menon

Data specialist · Kerala

Rahul Menon is thirty-eight, nearly two metres tall, and incapable of keeping his tie straight. Behind his jokes is a meticulous data specialist who has spent fourteen months cleaning the same dataset. He prepares the mirror servers that will carry the discovery around the world, while keeping one small promise in mind: a photograph for his mother in Kerala.

04 / APRIL27

Eura Raaniken

Former ICC evidence analyst

A forty-five-year-old Finnish former evidence analyst at the International Criminal Court, Eura Raaniken lives in The Hague and reads what others overlook. Her mother taught her to question the margins; her work taught her to follow the records. When a footnote disrupts her quiet routine, those habits become the beginning of a deeply personal investigation.

05 / APRIL27

Tomas Reis

Freelance journalist

Portuguese freelance journalist Tomas Reis is the thin man in the fourth row who has actually read the paper. Fifty years old and shaped by two decades of reporting, he believes publication can protect the vulnerable. His question about page forty cuts through the celebration and gives the world its first glimpse of the mystery beneath the breakthrough.

06 / APRIL27

Selin Akar

Chemist · Istanbul

Selin Akar, forty-seven, knows the distance between a promising molecule and a medicine that can be made safely, batch after batch. A former GMP inspector and pharmaceutical manufacturing director in Istanbul, she answers grand promises with exacting questions. At home she is Deniz’s mother, and protecting her daughter gives every professional decision a private weight.

07 / APRIL27

Nadia Haddad

Doctor · The Hague

Born in Beirut and trained in Paris, fifty-six-year-old Nadia Haddad has spent her career caring for people between countries and languages. In her Hague practice, her rule was simple: never give a treatment you do not understand. As old patient records and fragmented memories resurface, that principle becomes a question she can no longer set aside.

08 / APRIL27

Marek Sobol

Former Europol field operative

Marek Sobol spent nineteen years in field operations, learning to read a room, protect a vehicle and remain unnoticed. Now forty-nine and seriously ill, the former Europol officer measures life in the time he has left. A promise of a place in the queue draws him into a world where fear and duty become increasingly difficult to tell apart.

Kenji Arata

Molecular biologist · Tokyo

Kenji Arata, fifty-three, is a molecular biologist in Tokyo with an unusual advantage: years of medical data from his own body. While others see a miracle, he asks what the measurements actually prove. Patient, exacting and unable to leave an inconsistency alone, he brings the scientist’s insistence on evidence to a mystery that is no longer safely distant.

10 / APRIL27

Ingrid Dahlen

Risk consultant · Amsterdam

Ingrid Dahlen is a forty-nine-year-old Norwegian risk consultant whose twelve years at Europol taught her to test a reassuring explanation before believing it. Based in Amsterdam, she knows how institutions watch people and how people leave traces. Beneath her professional composure lies a harder task: deciding when caution has become a failure to act.

11 / APRIL27

Vikram Nair

Infrastructure engineer · San Francisco

Vikram Nair, forty-one, trusts logs more readily than people. An infrastructure engineer in San Francisco who once worked on European space data systems, he begins with audit trails, compute budgets and the numbers everyone else skips. His instinct is to find the faulty component; the discovery challenges him to ask whether a system can work perfectly and still serve a terrible purpose.

12 / APRIL27

Clare Oduya

Actuary · London

Clare Oduya has spent thirty years calculating the future. A fifty-seven-year-old London actuary and the daughter of a Nigerian accountant, she understands what longer lives could mean for pensions and the people who depend on them. 13 / APRIL27

Marisol Cantu

Verification specialist · Vienna

Mexican-born Marisol Cantu worked for fifteen years as an OPCW chemical weapons inspector. Now in Vienna, she approaches the truth through procedures that can survive hostile scrutiny: samples, seals, independent checks. Quiet and sharp, she understands that evidence must be more than convincing. It must remain intact when powerful people have every reason to make it disappear.

14 / APRIL27

Jozef Luka

Bioethicist · Zagreb

Jozef Luka is a sixty-four-year-old bioethicist in Zagreb who refuses to confuse a benefit with consent. Decades of teaching have made him attentive to the questions hidden beneath a beautiful answer. For him, longer life raises a problem that no laboratory can settle: who has the right to decide what another person’s body should become?

15 / APRIL27

Omar Benali

Cold-chain specialist · Rotterdam

Omar Benali, forty-four, moves the things that must arrive alive or remain exactly cold. A Moroccan-Belgian cold-chain specialist in Rotterdam, he is the eldest of five siblings and measures responsibility through family, deliveries and small promises kept. 16 / APRIL27

Elias Vogt

Lethe Partners · Zug

Sixty-one-year-old Elias Vogt runs Lethe Partners from a windowless room above Lake Zug. He sees civilization as a structure built on mortality tables, and the new discovery as a threat to its foundations.
